Mahogany chest of drawers
£375
This attractive Victorian 19th century mahogany chest of drawers has an unusual arrangement of four small drawers at the top over three long drawers – two small drawers to top right (with key), a single large, deep drawer in the centre top, and a single large deep drawer to the top left (with key), constructed to appear as two separate small drawers for symmetry.
The abundant detailing includes an oval beaded inset to the top centre drawer, rope twist columns and turned legs to either side, narrow bead trim to all the drawers, and original ebonised handles with mother-of-pearl insets.
It’s a large chest of drawers, but the detailing gives it a very elegant presence.
There are a few scratches to the top, and a slight split in the right-hand side, but neither diminishes this attractive piece.
