19th century West Country stick back chair

£425

A great example of a simple, primitive West Country Windsor stick back arm chair dating to around 1830, with hoop back and slab saddle seat. The chair has turned front legs and swept back legs joined by an ‘H’ stretcher, a single arm hoop and crook arm supports. There is an old repair to the top rail. The wavy arm hoop and top rail give this chair tremendous character with a slightly lopsided look. It’s a beautiful deep colour with rich grain to the wood.
