Large French farmhouse table
An impressive, rustic 19th century French farmhouse table, with a rare two-plank top consisting of just two very wide planks bordered by narrow side rails. The sturdy, square chamfered legs are braced by a traditional H-stetcher. Apart from its imposing size, the tremendous character of this table is largely due to the amount of wear visible on the top – the result of extensive use over 100+ years, which gives it a great patina and extremely interesting appearance.
The table has a single drawer in the centre, and it looks as if the drawer front has been replaced at some point (not recently).
This would be a stunning server table, or rustic retail display table, and would also work well as a long dining table. But please note the dimension from floor to the skirt on the underside, which is 55 cm, as this might not suit all heights of dining chair (although, if this is an issue, it could be resolved by the addition of invisible ‘pads’ to the base of the legs, which would raise the height slightly).Enquire
